Yesterday, a user on our forum shared a screenshot showing they survived until the 31st minute in The Void without picking up a single extra weapon. This record truly stunned the entire Aevo Labs team.

What is Vespervolt?

Vespervolt: Zombie Rush is a cyberpunk action game that our team recently finished and launched directly on web browsers. You play as the cyber ninja Vesper, slicing through hordes of undead under a blood moon in the city of Neo-Veridia. The game runs smoothly on both mobile and PC, with no download or installation required.

Our team’s goal was to create a game you could whip out for a 2-minute session while waiting for the bus, rather than something that requires hours of grinding. Everything is streamlined so you can jump into the action as quickly as possible.

Controls and Rules

The only weapon you start with is the Voltaic Plasma Katana. To control your character, use the SPACE or W keys to jump. Double-tapping allows Vesper to perform a double jump. Use the J or ENTER keys to swing your sword at monsters, and K to unleash a Volt Burst to clear out crowds in an emergency. If you’re playing on a touchscreen, virtual buttons are clearly displayed for direct touch control.

This 30-minute challenge requires you to clear monsters starting from the Graveyard, through the Necropolis, across the Candy Crypt, all the way to The Void—without upgrading your arsenal. If you’ve read our post Vespervolt: Surviving Past Minute 20 for Beginners, you’ll understand just how brutal the lack of late-game firepower can be.

Developer’s Perspective

We designed Vespervolt to be fast-paced, forcing players to keep moving constantly. Holding nothing but a katana for half an hour actually goes against our initial weapon upgrade design. However, this proves that the game’s hit-and-run mechanics are working exactly as intended.

Many of you have asked why there isn’t a Hall of Fame for these records. This first version doesn’t have a global leaderboard yet; we felt that feature would only be worth building if players truly keep coming back. We are also discussing The Best Time to Release a Vespervolt Update to add features for tracking local personal achievements.

Practical Tips for Survival

Playing this way makes it very easy to die around the 10th minute when the mobs start mutating and running faster. You must maximize your double jump skill to maintain a safe distance. Don’t over-rely on the Volt Burst, as the cooldown is quite long, and you’ll lose your “ace in the hole” when things get truly dangerous.

Try to herd the monsters into large clusters before using the J key for chain attacks. This strategy requires extreme patience. We previously wrote a post on Vespervolt: Surviving 15 Minutes Without Upgrades, but the 30-minute mark is a completely different beast in terms of both stamina and focus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the game support controllers?

Yes, the system automatically detects controllers on both PC and mobile devices. Just connect yours and you can play immediately without remapping buttons.

How long does the Volt Burst take to recharge?

In the current version, this skill requires a short period to fully recharge its energy. You should keep a mental timer so you don’t miss a crucial activation.

What happens if I lose my internet connection while playing?

The game loads all assets at once at the beginning. If your connection drops mid-game, Vesper will continue to fight as normal until you refresh the page.

Conclusion

Watching the community find ways to challenge themselves always brings a sense of excitement to developers like me. Using only a sword to clear these zones shows that the game’s movement system has enough depth to be exploited. Tonight, I’m going to plug in my controller and see if I can even make it past the 20-minute mark myself.
