Controls and Gameplay

We designed the control mechanics to be extremely minimalist. Use the SPACE or W key to jump. Double-tap to double jump over deep pits or dodge attacks. Use the J key or ENTER to slash your Katana. When surrounded, the K key activates the Volt Burst skill for wide-area clearance.

This first version doesn’t feature a global leaderboard yet; the scoring system currently works locally on your browser. We feel a ranking system is only worth implementing if players truly find themselves coming back to the game repeatedly.

The golden rule of survival is to never stand still. In the Graveyard area, enemies move quite slowly, so you can slash away comfortably. But once you transition to the Necropolis, the number of undead will double.

The secret is to use double jumps to fly over large groups of enemies. Save your Volt Burst for situations where you are trapped in a corner. Don’t abuse the regular attack button constantly, as the Katana’s animation will cause Vesper to stutter for a split second. That brief pause is enough for a monster to take a bite out of your health.
